September 17 / Women and Climate: Repair and Recycle Gathering

$15.00

September 17, 6:30-9:00PM

Still Life Studios
187 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

Please also register with WAC at [Luma]

Women and Climate’s September event will be a Repair and Recycling social focused on making your damaged items usable and beautiful. If you don’t have something to fix of your own, we’ll have options for you at each station.

We’ll have three repair areas:

Patch-Making and Garment Mending Station: Use our sewing tools and collection of patches, embroidery floss, and fabric scraps to add strength and beauty to your clothing, accessories, and other items. If you don’t have an item to fix, you can create a patch to take home.

Jewelry Repair / Upcycle Station: Use hand tools, jump rings, beading wire, and more to fix and upcycle your broken jewelry pieces. We’ll have earring hooks, additional wounded jewelry pieces, charms, and buttons that you can add to your pieces or to build something new from scratch.

Kintsugi Station: This station is inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi which uses laquer and gold to repair pottery. You will have the opportunity to reassemble a broken ceramic piece of your own while and highlighting imperfections with gold decoration. We’ll use faster drying adhesives and gold-toned paint/powder for our projects (this process will not result in food-safe objects). We’ll have a very limited selection of ceramic items you can fix and take home if you don’t have your own :)

BYO vegan/vegetarian food to enjoy with other members in our lounge or at a park nearby :)

(If you are unable to afford the fee for this event, please reach out to info@stillifestudios and we will work it out!)
