Artist Residency
Applications for Spring 2026 are now open. Up to three applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis.
The Artists-in-Residence Program allows selected artists to develop a project or body of work for exhibition at Still Life Studios. Our studio offers space, time, and professional resources for artists to delve more deeply into their practice and share their work and skills with others.
We are looking for artist partners to be core members of the Studio while immersing themselves in work that is meaningful to them. We seek work that resonates with the values and mission of Still Life, and we prioritize artists and media that promote reuse, sustainability, nature preservation, and community access.
Reach out to us if you have questions about the program or your eligibility. Please note that this is a non-live-in residency, and artists will not receive housing accommodations.
logistics
Begins: January 2026 (or earlier)
Length of Residency: 4 months; work may be displayed or sold for up to 4 months after the completion of the residency.
Awards & Income Opportunities: Each resident artist will receive a small stipend after the first month and the final month of successfully completed residency intended to support materials or other creative needs during their time in the program. Artists will have the opportunity to earn income from selling their products and/or artworks from the studio, as well as from event and workshop facilitation. The studio collects a commission on items and tickets sold.
Studio Access: Accepted artists will have full co-working access and free admission to many events, classes, and workshops offered at Still Life Studios during their 4-month residency. Private studio hours will be available on select days/times each week.
program requirements / expectations
Applicants should be committed to developing new work (or deepening ongoing work) during their residency to exhibit and/or sell from Still Life Studios.
Accepted artists are expected to commit to one full day (6.5 hours) or two half-days (3.5 hours each) of studio assistance per week. Artists are encouraged to use time during this period to also explore their own work.
During the residency, artists will be asked to facilitate up to two (2) workshops or events per month at the Studio in a medium or subject matter related to their ongoing work.
Artists will help maintain a respectful, safe, clean, and presentable space and agree to our Studio Policies and Liability Waiver.
eligibility
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants are encouraged to apply with a portfolio or work samples that demonstrate the type of work they hope to create while in the program.
Applicants should be prepared to start the program by January 31, 2026, or sooner.
We currently work best with artists whose media or crafts are conducive to our cozy, carpeted space — such as writing, collage/papercrafts, fiber arts, photography/videography, digital illustration/design, some jewelry crafting, music/sound, and more.
